Research Institute of Teaching Materials

 

The BNU Research Institute of Teaching Materials, established on August 6, 2018, is the first research institution established in a Chinese university dedicated to the development of teaching materials for all disciplines in all phases of learning.

 

 

 

Textbook development of Beijing Normal University not only has a long history and profound cultural heritage, but also enjoys the advantages of research and educational resources. Bearing in mind its initial mission, the BNU Research Institute of Teaching Materials is committed to building a high-level teaching material research and development platform serving the national education strategy by leveraging its disciplinary advantages, and fully implementing the deployment of the Central Government and the spirit of the National Education Congress.

 

 

 

The current functions of the Research Institute of Teaching Materials include: research, consultation and planning of teaching material development and its policies; compilation of teaching materials and transformation of educational achievements; training of teaching material research and development teams and construction of teaching material research and development bases; evaluation and assessment of teaching materials entrusted by society; international exchange and promotion in the field of teaching materials, etc.

 

In the future, the Research Institute of Teaching Materials will aim at the following four comprehensive goals: it will perform its diversified functions in an all-dimensional manner; display its open platform “for the whole country”, and become integrated with international education. Efforts are focused on the following five aspects. The first is "convergence" so as to form a joint force for the development of teaching materials of all learning phases and create a distinctive brand of teaching materials; The second is to "trace the source" and focus on organizing and studying teaching material resources to build a high-level teaching material collection center. The third is to "make high standards" to lead the research on textbook theory and development trend, and hold regular summit forums; The fourth is "transmutation", focusing on the use of big data and modern information technology to develop derivative educational products related to teaching materials; The fifth is to "open up" and strive to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, express Chinese voices, and expand the international influence of Chinese teaching materials.
