Research Collaboration Through Projects
BNU has extensive research cooperation in humanities and social sciences to serve the society and offer advice and suggestions to the government, having established research cooperation with the world’s top 500 enterprises, prestigious universities at home and abroad. Examples of such cooperation projects include “Research on the Overall Framework of Students’ Core Accomplishments at the Stage of Basic and Higher Education in China”, a MOE major research project in philosophy and social science chaired by Professor Lin Chongde of the Faculty of Psychology, “Development of Information Database of China’s Social Management Innovation Research”, a project specially commissioned by the National Social Science Fund chaired by Professor Wei Liqun of the School of Sociology, and “Field Research Project on Early Warning and Monitoring of Areas in Deep Poverty”, a project commissioned by the State Council's Poverty Alleviation and Development Leading Group and chaired by Professor Zhang Wenguang.
To address national demand and local reality, BNU has cooperated extensively with universities, research institutions, governments, enterprises, carrying out a large number of cooperative research, producing significant social impact and economic benefits, such as a “National Water Project” titled “Research on Key Technologies for National Monitoring of Water Environment and Construction of Big Data Platform for Watershed Water Environment”, a “National Key Research and Development Program Project” titled “Research on Key Technologies of Intelligent Assessment and Prevention of Duty Crimes”, a “National Key Research and Development Program Project” titled “Interaction and Regional Performance of Natural and Human Factors on Land Surface Driven by Global Change”, and a “Mobile Learning” project conducted in collaboration with China Mobile Communications Co., Ltd.
University-Society Cooperation
BNU actively carries out exchanges and cooperation with state ministries and commissions, local governments, enterprises and institutions, exploring cooperation paths and creating innovative cooperation modes. BNU has conducted multi-type, wide-range and deep-level cooperation with various organizations such as the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Qinghai Provincial People’s Government, Zunyi Municipal People’s Government, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Lanzhou University. Local research institutes and dispatched research institutes and joint research institutes are established to serve local economic and social development. The School of Artificial Intelligence and the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence were jointly built to explore scientific and technological innovation and to jointly train innovative talent. BNU While serving national and regional economic development, BNU has effectively improved the level and research capability of relevant disciplines.
Overseas Research Cooperation
As an inclusive, diversified and open university with a global vision, BNU keeps innovating research cooperation modes with world-class universities, research institutions and renowned overseas enterprises. Our university works with research partners from all over the world to establish research cooperation platforms, develop framework cooperation, and conduct high-level international technology cooperation and people-to-people exchanges by consigned and associated research. BNU has established cooperation ties with nearly 300 universities and research institutions in over 40 countries and regions, including the establishment of comprehensive cooperation platforms for teaching and research in such fields as neuroscience, education science and global climate change with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Vanderbilt University, the University of Maryland, etc. And BNU has carried out long-term cooperation with world-class universities such as Stanford University, Yale University, University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Glasgow, University of Leeds, Monash University, Hong Kong University, and University of Helsinki, and international organizations such as UNESCO, EU, UNICEF, WWF, and IDS, as well as transnational corporations such as Dell, Intel, Lego, Volkswagen, Boeing, Microsoft, etc.
