BNU started graduate education in the 1920s, which is one of the earliest universities in China. Nowadays with the task of constructing the world-class disciplines keeps improving the quality of graduate education actively, and works to develop graduates' academic literacy, innovative thinking and the ability of international academic communication.
In China’s “Double-First Class” Initiative, 11 disciplines have been selected (Education, Psychology, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Mathematics, Geography, Systems Science, Ecology, Environmental Science and Engineering, Theatre Film and Television Studies, and Linguistics), ranking the 8th nationwide. In the fourth National Discipline Evaluation, there are 15 disciplines rated Category A, 6 of which are rated A+, ranking the 6th in China. And a number of disciplines have acquired international reputation. In the latest ESI Ranking, 14 disciplines are among top 1%.
