A Delegation Led by the President of the University of Wollongong in Australia Visited Beijing Normal University

On the morning of June 6, a delegation led by G.Q. Max Lu AO, President of the University of Wollongong, and Vice President Alan Rowan visited Beijing Normal University(BNU). BNU's President Yu Jihong met with the guests.



Yu Jihong extended a warm welcome to G.Q. Max Lu AO and his delegation, introducing them to BNU's development in its "one body, two wings" educational framework, discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and international cooperation. She noted that this marked the first official visit by the Walonggang University delegation to BNU, a milestone event given the close educational ties between China and Australia, and expressed hope that both institutions would enhance personnel exchanges, build consensus on collaboration, and contribute to educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.



Lu expressed his gratitude for the warm reception extended by Beijing Normal University. He provided a detailed introduction to the distinctive educational features, disciplinary strengths, and development plans of Volonggang University, expressing his expectation for pragmatic collaboration between the two institutions in fields such as chemistry, materials science, life sciences and health, and data science, aiming to jointly usher in a new chapter of academic exchange and cooperation between the universities.



Representatives from the Faculty of Psychology, College of Chemistry, College of Life Sciences, School of Systems Science, and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation attended the meeting. Both parties engaged in an in-depth exchange of views regarding future collaboration models.


Prior to the talks, the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at BNU, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the laboratory's development history, research focuses, and significant achievements in fields such as cognitive science and health care for the elderly.

Its disciplines in chemistry, materials science, engineering, information technology, and nursing consistently rank among the world's leading ones.
