On June 26th, the fourth Global Youth Dialogue came to an end at Beijing Normal University. This event was jointly hosted by the School of Foreign Languages and Literature and the Jingshi Academy. With the core theme of "Dialogue, Not Dispute", it attracted more than 150 academic guests and young students from countries such as China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Tunisia, and Azerbaijan to participate. In-depth exchanges were held on cutting-edge topics such as the integration of civilizations, educational development, artificial intelligence, and literary translation. Teng Jun, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Xiao Kai, Vice Dean of the Jingshi Academy, and Ai Xin, Party Secretary of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Teng Jun, drawing on the traditional Chinese philosophical wisdom of "harmony without uniformity", encouraged young people to learn to listen in communication, take themselves as the starting point to promote dialogue among civilizations, grow into Bridges for multicultural communication, cultivate critical thinking and negotiation skills, and work together to build an inclusive and sustainable common future for humanity. Xiao Kai stated, "Dialogue, not confrontation" is a solemn commitment to openness, inclusiveness, mutual respect and mutual learning. Jingshi Academy will continue to deepen its cooperation with the School of Foreign Languages to facilitate the exchange and growth of young people from China and abroad. Ai Xin introduced that since its establishment in 2023, the World Youth Dialogue has attracted over a thousand young people from 21 countries and regions across five continents. This year's event closely follows the themes of The Times, encouraging young people to take on the mission of civilized communication and gain true knowledge and friendship through sincere dialogue.

This dialogue has specially invited Oliver Hassan, a foreign teacher from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, Peter Conroy, an assistant professor from Tsinghua University, Fiona Copland, a professor from the University of Warwick in the UK, and Samah Abelkader, a professor from Carthage University in Tunisia, to serve as keynote speakers. The conference kicked off with the recitation of classic Chinese poetry, bringing the cultural distance between young people from various countries closer. During the keynote speech session, the keynote speakers shared their insights from various perspectives, including literary studies in the age of AI, the development of global primary school English language teaching, the translation and introduction of Chinese literature, and the practice of AI translation, providing the young people present with an international academic perspective.

In the afternoon of the same day, five parallel sub-forums were held simultaneously. Young people from various countries engaged in in-depth exchanges around five major themes: Pluralistic Civilizations and World Cultures, Future Education and Excellent Teacher, Artificial Intelligence and the Humanities, Creativity in Literature and Translation, and Ethics and Responsibility in the Age of Al. They freely expressed their opinions based on their professional backgrounds and practical experiences, deepening their understanding and achieving growth through the collision of ideas.

After the discussion, young representatives from each sub-forum took the stage in turn to report the core viewpoints and ideological consensus of their groups and present the exchange achievements of this dialogue. The conference selected five "Outstanding Youth Representatives" and five "Outstanding Communicators", and awarded certificates of participation to all the young people who participated in the dialogue of the sub-forums.

The Global Youth Dialogue has been held for the fourth time. In the future, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature and the Jingshi Academy will continue to hold a series of activities. With an open and inclusive attitude, it will connect the global youth forces, guide the youth to build consensus through dialogue and grow together through exchanges, and inject lasting youth power into promoting the harmonious coexistence of different civilizations.
