Poetry and Hanfu Show Presented by Five universities in BNU Traditional Culture Month

A poetry and Hanfu show jointly presented by five universities was held recently. BNU and the Hanfu clubs from four universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Central University of Finance and Economics organized this activity.

The Traditional Culture Month is an annual activity for traditional aesthetic education in BNU, which has been held for five years. In the past five years, fine traditional cultures such as Kun Opera, batik, calligraphy, shadow puppetry, and cross talk have been introduced into the campus as the theme of the Traditional Cultural Month. This year, it takes “Hanfu”, the Chinese traditional costume, as the theme. The poetry and Hanfu show is an important event in this year’s Traditional Culture Month.

In this show, each participating university performed around a different theme. Students from BNU used "Traditional Solar Terms" as the theme to let people experience the changes of the four seasons and the passing of time. Students from PKU used the "Twelve Flower Gods" as a thread to demonstrate the perfect combination of traditional flower culture and classical Chinese aesthetics. Students from CUFE showed the tranquility and agility of Chinese treasures and students from BUPT used "Traditional Festivals" to display the colorful folk culture.

Besides the Hanfu performance, other cultural artistic programs have also been prepared for the event. Traditional dances such as The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting and Jinghong Dance, traditional folk music such as The Walker and Bai Suzhen under the Qingcheng Mountain, and the ancient poem Peach Blossoms Beam have all appeared on the stage, making the audience feast their eyes and enjoy the beauty of the classical culture.

From October to November, BNU has planned a total of eight activities to introduce the Chinese excellent traditional culture to the whole campus.
