Beijing Normal University Holds the Seventh BNU Young Scholars Forum
On the morning of January 20, the main forum of the Seventh BNU Young Scholars Forum was held in a hybrid (online and on-site) format. President Yu Jihong attended and delivered opening remarks, and Vice President Wang Ming presented the forum’s keynote report. Nearly 1,000 young scholars from world-renowned universities and research institutions registered for the event, with over 20,000 viewers watching online.

Yu Jihong extended a warm welcome to young scholars from China and abroad. She reviewed BNU’s history and recent development, emphasizing that strengthening the talent workforce has always been a top priority. She noted that BNU has systematically built a full-chain support system for young talent, covering recruitment, cultivation, evaluation, and incentives. She sincerely invited outstanding scholars worldwide to join BNU and contribute their wisdom and strength to speeding up work to build a strong educational system, greater scientific and technological strength, and a quality workforce.

Wang Ming provided a comprehensive overview of BNU’s development strategy and achievements. He pointed out that BNU has made remarkable progress in key areas such as talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and international collaboration. BNU has established an all-round system for talent recruitment and development, as well as robust support mechanisms for young faculty. He warmly welcomed outstanding scholars from around the world to join BNU, work together with the University, and jointly contribute to the high-quality development of China’s education and science and technology undertakings.

Mao Lanqun, Dean of the College of Chemistry, and Liu Kai, Dean of the School of National Safety and Emergency Management, spoke on behalf of faculties and departments. They introduced their respective schools’ resources and strengths in talent cultivation, research innovation, social services, and international cooperation, highlighting the growth opportunities and strong support available for young scholars. They expressed the hope that more outstanding young scholars will join and pursue their aspirations.

As representatives of young faculty, Fan Jingfang (School of Systems Science), Liu Yunzhe (Faculty of Psychology), and Jin Yu (Faculty of Arts and Sciences) shared their “BNU stories.” Drawing on their experiences in research exploration, teaching practice, and professional growth after joining the University, they described BNU’s comprehensive support in areas such as research start-up, team building, living support, and career development. Their sharing provided practical takeaways for participating young scholars.

Zhou Ya, Director of the Personnel Office under the Office of Talent and Human Resources, provided a detailed briefing on the University’s talent and HR policies. The forum was chaired by Huo Shouliang, Director of the Talent Affairs Office under the Office of Talent and Human Resources.

Following the main forum, various faculties and departments will host 29 sub-forums, inviting outstanding young scholars to participate in academic presentations, exchanges, and discussion sessions.
