On September 16, a delegation led by Jason Bell, Executive Vice President for Strategy, Programs, and Field Operations at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), visited Beijing Normal University. Liu Changxu, Vice President of Beijing Normal University, met with the guests.

Liu Changxu extended a warm welcome to the IFAW delegation and highly commended the outcomes of the two sides' cooperation over the past 25 years in areas such as wildlife rescue, ecological conservation, and scientific research and innovation. He noted that Beijing Normal University has long been deeply engaged in the field of biodiversity conservation and, drawing on its disciplinary strengths and research foundation, actively practices the concept of ecological civilization. He added that the university will continue to deepen its strategic cooperation with IFAW in the future, jointly advancing wildlife protection, biodiversity research, talent cultivation, and public education, and contributing to global ecological conservation and sustainable development.

Jason Bell expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by Beijing Normal University and gave a systematic introduction to IFAW's global strategic layout. He pointed out that IFAW attaches great importance to its strategic partnership with Beijing Normal University and fully recognizes the university's achievements in raptor rescue and wildlife rehabilitation and protection. He expressed the hope that, building on the two sides' long-term cooperation, Beijing Normal University's benchmark model and successful experience in wildlife protection can be promoted and applied on a broader scale.

During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on replicating successful models and cooperation on protecting key species, among other topics.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to enabling people and animals to share the beauty of life. It carries out animal rescue, rehabilitation, release, and habitat protection projects in more than 40 countries worldwide. The Beijing Raptor Rescue Center (BRRC) was jointly established in 2001 by Beijing Normal University, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), and other institutions. It is China's first nonprofit organization specializing in the rescue and protection of raptors. As of June 2026, it had received and rescued more than 6,600 raptors of 40 species suffering from various injuries and illnesses.
