Smart Learning Environments Officially Indexed in SSCI
Recently, Smart Learning Environments (SLE), hosted by Beijing Normal University (BNU), has been officially indexed by Clarivate's Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and ranked in the Q1 quartile. According to the data, the journal's annual downloads have surpassed 2.1 million, and its 2025 Journal Impact Factor (JIF) reached 17.9, ranking 3rd globally in the "Education & Educational Research" category and firmly securing its position in the Q1 quartile.

Smart Learning Environments Officially Indexed in SSCI
The journal is the official publication of the International Association of Smart Learning Environments (IASLE). Founded in 2014, it is hosted by Beijing Normal University, supported by the Smart Learning Institute of BNU and the National Engineering Research Center of Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology, and published by SpringerOpen. SLE primarily publishes academic articles addressing issues related to advancing current learning environments toward smart learning environments and innovating teaching and learning methods. It focuses on pedagogical transformation in digital education contexts and explores how technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and virtual reality reshape teacher-student interactions and educational paradigms. It is committed to building a high-level academic exchange platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in the field of smart learning environments worldwide.

The journal is jointly led by four internationally renowned scholars as Editors-in-Chief: Prof. Huang Ronghuai, Co-Dean of the Smart Learning Institute at BNU; Assoc. Prof. Ahmed Tlili of BNU (Deputy Editor-in-Chief); Prof. Elvira Popescu of the University of Craiova, Romania; and Prof. Elliot Soloway of the University of Michigan, USA. The international editorial team brings together top expertise in education, computer science, and science of learning, laying a solid academic foundation for the journal.
