Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Visits Beijing Normal University

On April 10, Kobenova Gulzat Izbasarovna, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, visited Beijing Normal University (BNU), together with Meyirbek Izbassar, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, and Narbekova Banu Mukataevna, Vice President of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Abai KazNPU). Chen Xing, Vice President of BNU, met with the delegation.


Chen Xing welcomed Kobenova and her delegation and introduced BNU’s latest progress in disciplinary development and people-to-people exchange. He noted that the University has been actively advancing the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and has maintained strong cooperation with Kazakhstani universities in such areas as youth exchange and language education. He expressed the hope that, with the support of the education authorities of both countries, the visit would serve as an opportunity to deepen and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Kobenova thanked BNU for its warm reception and spoke highly of the University’s achievements in the development of foundational disciplines. She also briefly introduced recent reforms in higher education in Kazakhstan, as well as joint education programs carried out in cooperation with Chinese partners. She said she looked forward to maintaining close ties with BNU and pursuing more practical cooperation in the future.

Narbekova introduced the development of Abai KazNPU and expressed the hope of expanding cooperation with BNU in fields such as education and international Chinese language education.

Representatives from Business School, School of International Chinese Language Education, School of Continuing Education and Teacher Training, the Belt and Road School, and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation attended the meeting.
