Chen Xing Delivered a Video Address at the Opening Ceremony of the 19th International Symposium on Teacher Education in East Asia
On October 26, the 19th International Symposium on Teacher Education in East Asia opened in Guilin, Guangxi. Chen Xing, Vice President of Beijing Normal University(BNU) attended the opening ceremony via video and delivered a speech. Scholars and experts from 44 universities in China, Japan, South Korea, and other countries gathered to exchange and share insights on “Teachers’ Professional Development in the Digital Age—Challenges and Responses”.
Chen Xing noted that in the digital era, the rapid development of technologies like artificial intelligence and big data has brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the education sector. He emphasized that BNU places great importance on digital transformation in education, continuously advancing the deep integration of information technology with teaching practices. BNU has conducted systematic explorations in areas such as intelligent education research and innovative teacher training models. Chen Xing stated that BNU is willing to leverage the International Consortium for Universities of Education in East Asia as a platform to deepen cooperation with member universities, jointly contributing wisdom and strength to advance the construction of an East Asian education community.

During the conference, the International Executive Committee of the International Consortium for Universities of Education in East Asia convened its annual meeting through a hybrid online-offline format. Wu Yujun, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office at BNU, led the delegation, with Teng Jun, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, chairing the session.

During the keynote session, Song Huan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education at BNU, delivered a special presentation, moderated by Teng Jun. Additionally, five students from the Faculty of Education presented academic reports at the parallel forum.

The International Consortium for Universities of Education in East Asia was established in December 2009 with the mission to foster collaboration among teacher-training universities and departments across East Asia, while advancing educational development in the region.
