International Academic Forum on Semiotic Studies of Russian Culture from Multidimensional Perspectives Was Held
From March 28 to 30, the International Academic Forum on Semiotic Studies of Russian Culture from Multidimensional Perspectives was held at Beijing Normal University (BNU).
Chen Xing, Vice President of BNU, delivered an opening speech, highlighting BNU's consistent efforts in promoting interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. He noted that this forum, focusing on Russian cultural semiotics, explored the theories and applications of the Tartu-Moscow School within the context of the AI era and the development of New Liberal Arts.
Ning Qi, Vice President of Peking University and President of the Chinese Association of Russian Language Teaching, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, expressing sincere gratitude to the distinguished scholars for their academic contributions.
Miao Xingwei, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature of BNU, stressed that the forum, as an important platform for academic exchanges between China and Russia, built an academic bridge for inter-civilization dialogue and decode the deep meaning of Russian culture from multiple perspectives.
Scholars from Moscow State University, University of Tartu, Humboldt University of Berlin, Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, Peking University, Beijing Normal University and other prestigious institutions delivered keynote presentations at the forum. Their academic contributions spanned the formative background of the Tartu-Moscow School, fundamental theories of cultural semiotics, along with advanced research in textual, art, historical, psychological and linguistic semiotics.
During parallel sessions, participating scholars and students engaged in extensive discussions on key thematic areas, including textual and linguistic semiotics research, artistic and psychological semiotics studies, investigations into the philosophical contributions of prominent figures from the Tartu-Moscow School, as well as fundamental principles and applied research in (cultural) semiotics.
Professors Zhao Aiguo from Soochow University and Liu Juan from BNU delivered concluding remarks for the forum.
The International Academic Forum on Semiotic Studies of Russian Culture from Multidimensional Perspectives discussed the latest research results and future development trends in the field of cultural semiotics, expanding the influence of Chinese scholars and Chinese discourse in relevant fields of international academia.
