The Delegation from the University of St Andrews Visited Beijing Normal University

On the morning of March 16, a delegation from the University of St Andrews, led by Vice-Principal Brad MacKay, visited Beijing Normal University (BNU). Chen Xing, Vice President of BNU, met with the guests at the Main Building.

Chen Xing extended a warm welcome to MacKay and his delegation. He introduced the disciplinary layout and recent development of BNU’s Beijing and Zhuhai campuses, as well as the University’s international strategic planning. He noted that the two universities have highly compatible strengths in a number of disciplines, and expressed the hope that, building on existing student exchange programs, the two sides would expand cooperation across more disciplines and in more diverse forms, while gradually increasing the scale of faculty and student exchanges.

MacKay thanked BNU for its warm reception and introduced the disciplinary development of the University of St Andrews, with particular emphasis on the current development of its Chinese Studies program. He said that the University of St Andrews is willing to strengthen cooperation with BNU and promote reciprocal visits and exchanges between the two sides.

Representatives from the School of International Chinese Language Education and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation attended the meeting. The two sides reached consensus on advancing and expanding student exchange programs and carrying out cooperation in related disciplines. After the meeting, Chen Xing and MacKay renewed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities.
