The 1st International Symposium on Immediate Remote Sensing Convened in Beijing
From May 9 to 10, The 1st International Symposium on Immediate Remote Sensing (IRS) was held in Beijing. More than 400 experts, scholars, and graduate students from universities, research institutes, and related industry organizations attended the symposium.

The symposium was initiated by Wang Qiao, head of the Major Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 42192580), Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chief Scientist of the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies of Satellite Applications, BNU. The conference invited more than 20 renowned experts and scholars to attend and present reports, including Gong Jianya (Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at WHU), Zhang Bing (Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Researcher at the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Zhang Yongsheng (Professor at the Information Engineering University of the Cyberspace Force), Gu Xingfa (Dean of the Aerospace Remote Sensing Innovation Research Institute, Guangzhou University), and Zhou Guoqing (Professor at Guilin University of Technology). Wang Ming, Vice President of BNU; Teng Jun, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation; Yu Wangyang, Deputy Director of the Development Planning Department; Yang Xiaofan, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Academy; and Xu Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Geographical Science, BNU, attended the symposium. The opening ceremony was hosted by Pan Yaozhong, Dean of the Institute of Remote Sensing Science and Engineering, Faculty of Geographical Science, BNU.
Wang Ming delivered the opening address. He fully acknowledged the research achievements made by the Faculty of Geographical Science in the field of Immediate Remote Sensing and its important role in serving major national needs. He hoped to take this symposium as an opportunity to further deepen multilateral academic exchanges and collaborative innovation, promoting the production of more high-level achievements in the field of Immediate Remote Sensing.
