In 2026, the Beijing Normal University Summer Short-Term Chinese Language Program sets sail once again!
Featuring level-based instruction, small class sizes, and an integrated approach that combines explanation with practice, our experienced teaching team from the School of International Chinese Language Education will help you systematically enhance your Chinese listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a short period of time—while immersing you in the richness of Chinese culture through authentic contexts.
Whether you are a complete beginner starting from zero, or an advanced learner aiming for a high HSK score, you will find a class pace here that perfectly suits your learning goals.
1.Project Highlights · Immersive Language Enhancement
- Level-Based Placement & Interactive Small Classes
Based on the results of the placement test, students are carefully assigned to beginner, intermediate, or advanced levels, ensuring targeted instruction and a more personalized learning experience.
- Integration of Language and Culture
Beyond language acquisition, our courses delve into cultural contexts and patterns of expression, helping you understand not just what to say, but why it is said that way—so Chinese truly comes alive.
- Learning Through Experience, Enriched with Fun
Each week features one to two cultural experience activities, allowing you to deepen your understanding through hands-on practice and enhance your communication skills through meaningful interaction.

2.Graded teaching · Scientific advancement
- Beginner Level: For students with no prior background or HSK 1–2
- Intermediate Level: For students at HSK 3–4
- Advanced Level: For students at HSK 5 and above
Each level includes:
* Reading & Writing
* Listening & Speaking
Courses use established textbook series such as Approach: Introductory Chinese, Application: Intermediate Chinese, and Appreciation: Advanced Chinese. Supplementary materials are flexibly incorporated according to students’ proficiency levels to ensure optimal learning outcomes.

Beyond the classroom, we take you into China where history and modernity intertwine.

- Traditional Hutongs
- The Summer Palace
- The Bird‘s Nest, the Water Cube, and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum
In addition, you will participate in hands-on cultural workshops such as Chinese calligraphy, traditional painting, paper-cutting, martial arts, and music. Through immersive experiences, you will gain deeper insight into Chinese aesthetics and the spirit behind its rich cultural traditions.
