Beijing Normal University unveils project to promote art, train teachers
Beijing Normal University has launched a project to promote art education among general public and to train art teachers.
According to Zhou Xing, a professor at the Research Center of China Arts Education under Beijing Normal University, the project aims at offering people of different ages educational classes, including music, dance, painting and calligraphy.
Art organizations and art schools, including Shanghai Conservatory of Music, China Chorus Association, China Dancers Association and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, are also taking part in the project.
"Thanks to technology, people can attend online courses at home. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the university has launched five series of online art courses, including piano, chorus and painting, which have received warm feedback. We've seen an increasing demand for art education," Wang Jie, vice-president of School of Arts and Communication of Beijing Normal University, who is in charge of the project, said. "With the project, artists and art educators from those organizations will map out plans and regulations to train art teachers and art educational organizations. People needing art education will get professional training."
