On November 1st, the opening ceremony the National Social Science Foundation Educational Key Bidding Project "Study on Xi Jinping's Socialist Educational Thought with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era" was held. Director of the Department of Social Sciences of the Education Ministry Liu Guiqin, and Director of the Institute of Curriculum and Teaching Materials of the Education Ministry, Researcher Tian Huisheng, Party Secretary, President and Researcher of China Education Press, Zai Bo, Inspector and Researcher of Shandong Provincial Education Department Zhang Zhiyong, Dean of Education Science School, Huazhong University of Science and Technology Zhang Yingqiang, Director of National Education Science Planning Office, Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences Dean Cui Baoshi were invited to attend the meeting. Mr. Gu Mingyuan and other eight representatives of research groups, and Vice President of Beijing Normal University Hao Fanghua, Executive Vice President of the Research Institute, Director of the Social Science Department Fan Lishuang, and Deputy Director of the Social Science Department Tian Xiaogang attended the meeting.
Fan Lishuang presided over the first half of the meeting. Vice President Hao Fanghua and Director Cui Baoshi made speeches. Hao Fanghua fully affirmed the importance of the subject and Mr. Gu Mingyuan's academic prestige. She introduced the recent reform and innovation in our school's organizational structure to all, and said that the school would do its best to serve, fully support and cooperate to ensure the smooth and successful completion of the subject.

Cui Baoshi pointed out that "The Study of Xi Jinping's Socialist Educational Thought with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era" is the first major tender project in the national education category in 2018. He believed that the whole Party and society, especially the education system, were currently setting off an upsurge in learning and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on education and the spirit of the National Education Congress. It was very meaningful to hold a project opening meeting at the right time and complement each other. He believed that the research of the subject fully conformed to the arrangement and requirements of learning and carrying out General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education, as well as the laws of educational research. He emphasized that the research of this subject should be systematically organized, systematically studied and systematically constructed.

The second half of the meeting, the opening Council was chaired by Director Liu Guiqin. He believes that the topic is of great significance. It is of great significance to establish four consciousness on the education front, strengthen four self-confidences, practice two maintenance, accelerate education modernization, build a strong educational country, and run a satisfactory education for the people.
Mr. Gu Mingyuan, as the chief expert of the research group, introduced to all that under the arrangement of Comrade Liu Yandong last year, the research group had already carried out some research on General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on education. So it has certain research basis. But this time we should pay attention to systematically combing Xi Jinping's educational thought from the perspective of theory, source, essence and values, the core content and methodology of his important expositions on education, and the impact of China's educational practice.

Next, Professor Xue Eryong, from the Faculty of Education of Beijing Normal University and the China Institute of Education and Social Development, made a topic opening report to the experts on behalf of the research group. According to the panel of experts, this topic is a new attempt to construct and interpret General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on education. Which is a new attempt of pedagogical theory research. It is also an attempt to construct Xi Jinping's educational exposition on different occasions into a comprehensive, systematic and rational ideological system. So as to make it a representative and leading thought of the pedagogical system with socialist characteristics in the new era of China.; the contemporary value of Xi Jinping's educational exposition is analyzed from the aspects of theory, practice and policy, and the systematic exploration of epistemology, methodology and axiology is carried out. Generally speaking, the research is of great significance and the research design is reasonable. The research content is novel, the direction is clear and the overall system well reflects the in-depth integration of policy, academic and scientific nature, and the research method is reasonable and scientific. The research team combines the old, middle and young people, and cooperates with mutilple disciplines. The schedule is properly arranged, and the expected completion time and results meet the required requirements. The host's unit has a positive scientific research policy environment, has a more mature and perfect management method for the project, encourages the publication of results, and enhances the influence of the state-funded projects. The project has formed relevant research results, has a good research foundation, can better ensure the completion of the project with quality and quantity.

The expert group suggested that we should further strengthen the collation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's information on the important expositions on education, clarify the scope and lay a solid foundation for the study; further improve the research content of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education from the perspectives of theory, practice and policy; and further sort out the originality and developmental thought of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education. Its unique contribution should be made clear, reflecting the historical context of the development of thought; the combination of academic, theoretical, policy and practice should be further strengthened, and Xi Jinping's important exposition on education should be refined, systematically and clearly studied.
Finally, the review panel agreed that the project opening report is scientific and the research plan is feasible and agreed to open the topic.
