Dr. Li Xiaobing, Han Nationality, was born in December 1967 in Hohhot in Inner Mongolia. He is a BNU Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. He currently serves as well as the Vice Chairperson of the BNU University Council, assisting the management work of leaders. He is responsible for Party development, for Trade Union and for work related to retired staff management and service. He is in charge of the Office of Organization, the Trade Union and the Office of Retired Staff.
Li was once Party Secretary of the Institute of Resources Science at BNU, Party Secretary of the College of Resources Science & Technology and Dean of the College of Resources Science & Technology.
In 1991, Li Xiaobing graduated from the Department of Biological Plant Ecology of Inner Mongolia University with a Bachelor’s Degree. In 1994, he graduated with a Master’s degree in / Plant Ecology from the Natural Resources Institute of Inner Mongolia University. In 1997, he was awarded a Ph. D. in Natural Geography from BNU’s Department of Resources and Environment.. In 2000, he was a visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley.
Li is mainly engaged now in teaching and research work dealing with global change and terrestrial ecosystems relationships. He is a past winner of the “Huo Yingdong Foundation for Young Teachers Award” and the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Plan" award of the Ministry of Education, and he has received Beijing’s "May 4th Medal." He has presided over the National Key Basic Research Development Plan (“973 Plan”), the National High Technology Research and Development (“863 Plan”), science and technology support projects and the Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published over 150 academic papers and more than ten monographs and has won a number of provincial teaching and scientific research awards. He has served as Vice Director of the China Society of Natural Resources and is a member of the Standing Committee of the China Society of Natural Resources as well as Director of Committee of Sustainable Resource Utilization and Disaster Reduction, China Society of Natural Resources. He has also served as Deputy Secretary General of the National Youth Education Sectors Working Committee.
