Tian Hui is a native of Shandong Province, born there in 1968. Tian holds a Ph.D. in Economics, and currently serves as Vice Chairperson of the University Council and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection at Beijing Normal University. He presides over student affairs, safety and security, discipline inspection and supervision, the activities of the Communist Youth League and sports, and he is responsible for the Office of Undergraduate Affairs (Armed Forces Department), the Office of Graduate Affairs, the Advisor Training and Study Base, the Security Department, the Office of Discipline Inspection and Supervision, the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center, the Student Psychological Consultation and Service Center, the Student Subsidy Management Center and the BNU Youth League Committee.
Tian has served as an advisor to undergraduates and graduates, as Secretary of the Youth League General Branch, as Secretary of the BNU Youth League Committee, as Director of the Student Work Department and as Chief of the Armed Forces Department, as the Assistant (temporary post) of the Haidian District Warden, Beijing Municipality, as Director of the BNU Office and BNU History Research Office and as Secretary General of the BNU Alumni Association. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at UCLA.
Tian was the delegate to the 14th People’s Congress from Haidian District and assumed a concurrent post as Secretary General of the National College Ideological and Political Education Research Association. He is an Editorial Board Member for Studies in Ideological Education and Journal of College Advisors.
Tian’s awards include the Outstanding Cadres of the Youth League, the National Outstanding Carder of the Youth League and the "May 4th Youth Medal" of Beijing.
