In order to celebrate the 115th anniversary of BNU, to strengthen students' Ideological Education and study style construction, in October 12th, our school distinguished alumni, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, State Department counselor Tang Shouzheng was invited to return to his alma mater, to give a report titled "How to research the forestry problem by using mathematics approach". Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, School of Mathematical Sciences Professor Chen Mufa; Dean of the school of Mathematical Sciences Li Zenghu; the school party secretary Tang Zhongwei; major responsible person for the graduate students work dept.; and more than 300 faculties and students listened to the report.
Tang Shouzheng started the report from his own school experience. He introduced the course of affinity with forestry and mathematics, described personal interest and demand for life incentives, encouraged everyone don’t forget early heart, adhere to the dream. He combined his research work, emphasize that scientific research should have strict truth-seeking, persevere attitude in scientific research, open vision and the courage of innovation, to strengthen interdisciplinary learning, learn the language transformation between different disciplines. Tang Shouzheng said, the 7 years of study in Beijing Normal University was the happiest time of his life. He shared the three key points of learning experience with all mutual encourage: the nature is the mother of knowledge; the longest journey begins with the first step; other mountain’s stone may attack the jade.
This report will be used as one of the BNU 115th anniversary series of activities to guide teachers and students to learn from the alumni, to learn their spirits of work hard, determined to serve the country's noble sentiment and the pursuit of truth and innovative spirit of scientific research, to gather alumni power, unite alumni emotion, create a good atmosphere of loving school and proud of school. The school will continue to invite academician alumni to return to their alma mater to carry out face-to-face exchanges with teachers and students.
