Supreme People's Court Judicial Committee Member Du Wanhua and the Party Visited BNU

      In October 7th, the Supreme People's Court judicial committee member Du Wanhua and the party visited our school. President Dong Qi met with the guests. The topics of establishing extensive cooperation of both side, normalizing the mutual benefit and win-win mechanism are discussed. Supreme People's court, the relevant person in charge of the civil 1st division and judicial reform office, and some experts and scholars from Social Science Division, Institute of Psychology, Law School of BNU participated in the talks.
 
      Du Wanhua introduced the background of China's civil trial reform, the goal and the promotion plan of the program. He also put forward six proposals regarding the cooperation of the two parties in the meantime. The first is to absorb the teachers and students from psychology, society majors into the mediator team that directly involved in family disputes mediation. The second is the introduction of psychological methods and professionals to conduct psychological testing of the parties. The third is to carry out psychological knowledge training to the court judge of family trial reform court, and gradually extended to the national family judges and family mediators. The fourth is to jointly prepare the high quality of family trial training materials. The fifth is to jointly promote the family trial involved psychological, sociological research and establish the psychology teaching and research base in the people's court where condition permits. The sixth is to establish a national court and the national psychology, social science teaching and research units, multi-level, normalized cooperation mechanism.
 
      Principal Dong pointed out in the talks, the Supreme People's court and universities & research institutions jointly carry out in-depth cooperation, introduce psychology knowledge and method into domestic trial to provide scientific method support for the domestic trial court national wide. It is not only conducive to promoting the reform of the judicial system of family affairs in our country, but also conducive to the Beijing Normal University to elaborate their own strengths to serve the society. More importantly, this is a pioneer work that the two sides actively serve the national development strategy, to promote and create a harmonious atmosphere of the society. President Dong emphasized that cooperation between the two sides must be implemented into practice. The first is to do in-depth study and jointly put forward a detailed scheme of cooperation. The second is the two sides sign a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly participate in social construction, promote innovation of social governance. The third is to establish a relevant institution in Beijing Normal University that is responsible for the implementation of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two parties to carry out professional training in psychology, social work, marriage and family, etc. The fourth is the two sides jointly developed a detailed work plan, not only to promote the development of family trials, but also to promote the scientific research development of psychology and sociology. Let the scientific research to actually solve social problems.
 
      The reform of family trial system the Supreme People's court is driving on, is an important part of the judicial system reform of our country. The goal is to maintain the stability of marriage and family, protect junior women and the elders’ legitimate rights and interests, promote the socialist core values. In 2016 the Supreme People 's court will choose 100 or so grassroots courts or intermediate people's court to carry out the pilot reform work of family trials and work mechanisms. And gradually promote to the courts at all levels national wide.
