Secretary Liu Held An Informal Discussion with the Executive Member of Faculty Delegates Congress Among Others
In preparation for the 6th session of the 5th Faculty Delegates Congress, Liu Chuan-sheng, the Secretary of the University Council, held an informal discussion with the executive member of the Faculty Delegates Congress, the director of the Special Committee of the Faculty Delegates Congress, and the head of the delegation on the morning of March 18. Liu listened closely to their comments and suggestions on university reform and development. Zhang Kai, the assistant to the President, and the responsible comrades of such departments as the Personnel Department and the School Union participated in the discussion.
At the forum, representatives expressed their demands and desires on the issues of school personnel training, teaching staff structure, academic planning, resource allocation, administration, industrial development, logistics services and the functions, rights and obligations of the Faculty Delegates Congress.
Secretary Liu listened to the views of the representatives sincerely, and affirmed the contributions to school reform and development made by the majority of the faculty and staff. Secretary Liu pointed out that teachers are the center of the school, and school reform and development cannot survive without the care, support and dedication of the faculty and staff. Only by effectively mobilizing the general staff's enthusiasm and creativity, concentrating their wisdom, uniting their hearts, pooling the wisdom and efforts of everyone, can the university achieve its goals. Currently, the university is in a critical period of reform and development, facing major strategic opportunities as well as severe challenges, and it is necessary to seize the opportunity of thoroughly implementing the Education Plan, formulating a program for the 12th "Five-year" Development Plan, and making a careful plan for development ideas, development targets, and construction tasks of the university in the next five years. Secretary Liu stressed that the 6th session of the 5th Faculty Delegates Congress is a meeting held in a critical period of reform and development, and the university council will innovate the form of the meeting, improve the quality of the meeting, and make efforts to let it be a meeting that is communication-oriented, pragmatic and efficient, and development driven.
