1. Where is your campus?
Our main campus lies in the north Beijing, and between the second and third ring road of the city. Actually, BNU is the nearest to the city center (the Forbidden City) among all universities in Beijing. We have convenient access to all kinds of resources including traffic, dining, shopping, and travailing.
2. How to get to your campus from airport?
We pick our students at airports for free from airports during our picking time (please see your admission notice). Students can also take a taxi (fare less than 100RMB) directly from airport or take shuttle bus (16RMB) to Madianqiao bus station and than take a taxi (fare less than 10RMB) to their apartments.
3. How about your community security?
The community of BNU provides a fairly secure environment for all students and faculties. There are hourly-relief guardians in all international students’ apartments and patrols from community police department; beyond, at the entrance of every student’s apartment, our apartment administrators do their duty to make our students safe. We have installed cameras in public area and crime cases seldom occur within our community. To sum up, we spare no effort to protect you son or daughter.
4. My son/ daughter may pick food, how’s your food like?
Our community is well known for its student’s restaurants among all Beijing universities. Students can have various kinds of food here, typical Sichuan food for spice lovers and many other tasty Chinese foods that fit almost everybody. Besides, we have a Muslim Canteen in respect to religion beliefs. Several Japanese and Korean restaurants in and off campus are very popular as well.
5. How can I learn how my student is doing?
We suggest that the best approach is to ask your son/daughter directly. Communication between parents and young adults is not always easy. The University years is a period for their remark growth and maturation, which especially in need of your care and guidance.
6. When is commencement?
Usually our commencement ceremony is set in late May or June. We are very pleased and honored to have you as our guests here, and share you happiness as well.
7. What can my student do in their extracurricular time?
Our students have plenty of choices in their extracurricular time. We have various kinds of activities every month the enrich students extracurricular time. For international students, we provide weekly tour in Beijing to get a better understanding of Chinese culture and history.
About 100 registered students’ organizations and clubs covers most interests, ranging from Psychology Association, Xi Yan Debating Team, BNUMUN (Beijing Normal University Model Unites Nations) to Taekwondo Club and Green Camping. Students can find their concentration and have fun with other students. Students are free to found new groups to present us their leading and organizing ability.
As living in Beijing—one of the most exciting city in the world, students are also encouraged to discover their opportunities off campus, whether it is an internship or a volunteering work, we appreciate their effort.
8. What if my students get sick? Or he/she wants to have a health check?
Our hospital lies in the north part of our community. It is within walking distance from all students apartment. Beyond, the Second Artillery Hospital—one of the top hospitals in China – is located across the street south our campus.
