On April 18, the "China-Norway Education Day" event was held at Beijing Normal University. The event was jointly sponsored by China Education Association of International exchange (CEAIE), Norwegian Education International Cooperation Center (SIU) and BNU, and co-organized by the Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions (University Norway). The “China-Norway Education Day” campaign adheres to the purpose of “enhancing the mutual understanding between the two countries and promote the common development of education”. As one of the important agendas for Iselin Nybø, Norway’s Minister of Research and Higher Education, it has attracted about 250 representatives come 80 universities that from China and Norway to attend.

At the opening ceremony, Li Xiaobing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Normal University, presided over the opening ceremony.
Hao Fanghua welcomed Minister Iselin Nybø to lead the largest educational delegation in Norway’s history to visit China. She stated that Beijing Normal University, as a comprehensive research university with a distinctive education discipline, has played an important role and made important contribution in promoting the development of Chinese education. Beijing Normal University hopes to establish long-term friendly and cooperative relations with Norwegian universities. Li Xiaobing stated that Beijing Normal University attaches great importance to cooperation with Norwegian universities and hopes that the education circles of the two countries will learn from each other and share opportunities for development. They will jointly face the problems and challenges in the development process. Zhao Lingshan shared his visit to Norway a month ago and emphasized that the world is more closely linked than ever before. China and Norway universities should join hands to meet the challenges of the times. Minister Iselin Nybø stated that the Norwegian government encourages greater cooperation with China in areas such as finance, new energy development, preschool education, and academic innovation, and expects higher education institutions from both sides to actively participate in and form closer partnerships with each other.
Scholars from both countries conducted discussions in the four sub-forums on "Education Research/Teacher Education Research," "Labor Market and Other Related Issues," "Scientific Curriculum Reform," and "Arctic Research Cooperation." After the meeting, Minister Iselin Nybø and his party visited Beijing Normal University Experimental Kindergarten and Experimental Primary Schools and interacted with teachers and students.
For a long time, Beijing Normal University has always attached importance to exchanges and cooperation with universities and colleges in the Nordic region. Together with Finnish universities, it has established the Sino-Finnish Joint Learning and Innovation Research Institute, and established a Confucius Institute with Danish universities. At present, Beijing Normal University and Norwegian universities have conducted exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as ecology, Chinese language and culture, preschool education, social policy, global change, and economics. And hope to through the “China-Norway Education Day” event to establish closer ties with Norwegian universities, strengthen cultural heritage, personnel training and scientific and technological research and development cooperation, thus promoting cultural and academic exchanges between the two countries to a new stage.
