Recently learned, Zhu Lihang professor of statistics was invited by the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences on August 21-25 as distinguished visiting scholar to visit University of Alberta in Canada. During his visit, Professor Zhu Lihang conducted an outstanding lecture on PIMS naming.
The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) was founded in 1996, aimed on promoting the highest international standards of Mathematical Science and applied research and promoting the training of high-level doctoral and postdoctoral personnel. The organization was originally composed of five universities in the two provinces of Alberta and British Columbia (University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and University of Victoria). Late on, the U.S. University of Washington (2005), and more recently University of Regina (2007), University of Saskatchewan (2008), University (2012) of Lethbridge and University of Manitoba (2015) respectively joined the five universities. The organization's constituent universities are all top universities in Canada and United states.
