This year our BNU will send professor Zhang Yanyun and associate professor Dong Lu of Life Science School, engineer Zhang Baogang of Global Change and Earth System Science Research Institute, M.S. student Ma Chi, a total of 4 people to participate in China's thirty-third Chinese Great Wall Station, Zhongshan Station Antarctic scientific expedition.
According to the inspection plan, inspection personnel will be on the Antarctic region that is around the Zhongshan Station such as Larsemann Hills, dalke glacier, Ross Sea to continue the investigation of aerial drones. In addition the plan includes the inspection of fast ice condition around the Zhongshan Station by using laser radar to provide data support for the snow dragon unloading; The inspection personnel will also do investigation on bird species and quantity, cluster size and distribution area and habitat condition around the Great Wall Station area. They will focus on the observation of the Antarctic Specially Protected Area No.150 Ardley Island. To collect scientific data for drafting the Antarctic bird protection regulations.
During the thirty-first China Antarctic scientific expedition, our BNU sent the M.S. student of Global Change Institute Ross Han to the Antarctic Zhongshan Station to execute the topography and aerial drones survey mission; During the thirty-second Chinese Antarctic scientific expedition, our BNU sent our M.S. student Zhang Yuanyuan to the Antarctic Great Wall Station to execute the Antarctic penguins and tundra vegetation aerial drones survey of Great Wall Station mission based on new UAV platform .
It is reported that the teachers and students of executing Zhongshan Station expedition tasks will take the snow dragon and depart in November 2nd from Shanghai and return the April next year; The teachers and students of executing Great Wall Station scientific expedition task will take international flights in mid Jan. passing by Chile and arrive in the station.
