Vice President Ge Jianping

Ge Jianping was born in 1962. He is the Vice President of Beijing Normal University. He presides over discipline planning and development and is responsible for the Office of Development Planning and Discipline Development.

Ge is the Vice Chairperson of the Beijing Ecology Society, Chief Chairman of the China Democratic League Beijing Municipal Committee, Member of the Standing Central Committee of the China Democratic League, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Eleventh CPPCC and Vice Chairman of the Eleventh Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.

In 1984, Chen graduated from Xinjiang Agricultural University as a Math Ecology major. He earned his Master’s degree and doctorate at Northeast Forestry University (1984 to 1993). Between 1987 and 1996, he served as the Lecturer in Ecology, Associate Professor and Office Director and Dean of the Korean Pine Institute of Northeast Forestry University. From 1997 to 1998, he served as a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Northeast Forestry University, Director of Liangshui-Mao’er Mount Ecological Locating Station and Member of the CPPCC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee. From 1999 to 2002 he served as the Dean of the Department of Science & Technology, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Ecology at BNU and from2002 to 2006 he served as the Dean of the School of Life Science, BNU.

Chen engages mainly in ecosystem analysis and the regional assessment of landscape fragmentation mechanisms on biodiversity studies. In 2003, he received the "Cross-Century Talents Program" award from the Ministry of Education in 2003. In 1998, he won the China Youth Science and Technology Award, and he has received the National Outstanding Teacher Award.

Chen receives a government special allowance from the State Council.
